I should have gone to take pictures last week but I didn't go because of illness. The maple trees changed colour and dropped their leaves very rapidly. You'll see from the pictures that they have about half their leaves left. The oak trees have changed to a warm orange. The others have dropped most of what they had. The larger trees in the nearby parks are just about empty.

Canadian Firefighters Memorial, October 6, 2013
It's been a while since I was able to get to the memorial to take pictures and so I picked today when we had some torrential rain. The pictures I took look much brighter than the actual lighting conditions. The oak trees have started to change colour and there are berries and flowers going on around the site. I think that over the next year the site's plant life will start to come ahead much better, since it's had a year now to establish.
