On the memorial site the plants that survived the winter are doing quite well. They should all be well established by winter this year. There are some plants that didn't make it. Hopefully they will be replaced next spring. There are a large number of weeds that have established themselves on the site. I think for the most part they could be referred to as wild flowers and allowed to continue. For me the exception to that would be the vine that has taken hold in many places all over the site. If it were up to me I would take steps to get rid of that one plant because it is so invasive and because it tends to have a parasitic effect on the other plants around it.
Overall, the plants on the site have been very successful. I think as the trees grow larger and the plants fill in the site will become very impressive.
