Canadian Firefighters Memorial, March 9, 2014

The snow just begins to show signs of going away. We have had about three days in the last two weeks with the temperature just above freezing. We had below freezing temperature today with a cloudless sky providing plenty of light for picture taking.

Canadian Firefighters Memorial, February 16, 2014

I took twelve pictures this day. That's not many. It was very cold, otherwise I would have taken more. With a cloudless sky, early in the afternoon, the light made for some decent photographs.

Thanks to a snow fall two days before, the snow is very white.

I think this turned out particularly well, as the light for it came at a perfect angle.

I think some of the oak trees parted their leaves late in the season and hold onto them because the sap froze. The leaves should fall in spring as the new buds push last year's leaves off the tree.

This is the top of one of the short upright metal posts. I still have no idea what they're for.

I like to photograph the lone pine, as it represents wildland firefighters.

The oval in the upper left is not a UFO. It's a lens flare. I'll be looking for a suitable lens hood to deal with that.

Canadian Firefighters Memorial, January 25, 2014

The reason I have the same title, "Canadian Firefighters Memorial," with the date for every post is so that it will be picked up by Google's search engine so that when people look for it they will find pictures of the memorial here.

Once again I picked a day that was overcast, extremely cold and snowing on which to take pictures. If it had been warmer I would have taken a few more.

Canadian Firefighters Memorial, January 12, 2014

This is the first set of pictures taken in 2014. I didn't come out the week before because the weather deterred me. Someone visited the memorial and left a flower. As you will see from the pictures, the light for taking pictures was far from ideal. The sky was overcast and there was a light fall of sleet.
