Canadian Firefighters Memorial, October 12, 2014

There seems to be very little change to the memorial site from the previous time I was there on September 28. The maple tree that had about twenty percent of its leaves left has dropped them all. There is a new QR code on the sign for the site. That may have been there earlier. I decided to have another look at the plaque that has the Firefighter's Prayer. I photographed it first thing when I arrived at the site.

Firefighter's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God
Whenever flames may rage
Give me strength to save a life
Whatever be its age

Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person
From the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
Put the fire out

I want to fill my calling
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbour
And protect their property

And if, according to your will
I mus answer death's last call
Bless with your protecting hand
My family one and all.

You can see the maple tree that has dropped all its leaves here. The other
maple trees on the hill still have green leaves.

For some time there was a QR code with a sticker across it and a "coming
soon" statement on it. Now there's a completely new sign on the post
with a new QR code. I did some searching and found out why. The old
QR code was for a story on the memorial on the National Capital
Commission's web site. Heritage Canada now has a page on it.
