The Founding of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation

On May 27, 2003 Will Brooks, Georges Potvin and Bill Williams signed the application for incorporation of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation - Fondation canadienne des pompiers morts en service.


The objectives on the application included the establishment and maintenance of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial, The planning and direction of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service, financial assistance to families of fallen firefighters for transportation and lodging during the annual memorial service, assisting federal, provincial and local efforts to recognize firefighters who die in line of duty, provision of scholarships and other financial assistance for educational purposes and job training for the spouses and children of fallen firefighters, and to promote national, provincial and local initiatives to increase public fire and life safety awareness.

 On May 28, 2003 the Canadian Minister of Industy, The Honourable Lucienne Robillard, issued a letters patent incorporating the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation - Fondation canadienne des pompiers morts en service.
