The massed pipe and drum band and firefighters participating in the march gathered on the south side of Wellington Street west of the Garden of the Provinces.

L'ensemble des formations de cornemuse et de tambour ainsi que les pompiers participant au défilé se sont rassemblés du côté sud de la rue Wellington, à l'ouest du Jardin des provinces.

A ladder truck from Brampton Fire Emergency Services and a ladder truck from Ottawa Fire Services were set up to raise the Canadian flag.

Families of firefighters whose names were added to the wall of remembrance attended the ceremony. Each family attending received a memorial helmet.

Weather conditions proved too windy for the flag, so, it was soon taken down.

The Ottawa Fire Services Band arrived and took their place for the ceremony.

This group, referred to as the helmet group, is made up of firefighters who come to the ceremony and volunteer to perform in the ceremony. They give each family a memorial plaque and a memorial helmet. The flags are the provincial flags of Newfoundland and British Columbia, Sea to Sea.

Ce groupe, appelé « groupe du casque », est composé de pompiers qui assistent à la cérémonie et se portent volontaires pour y participer activement. Ils remettent à chaque famille une plaque commémorative ainsi qu'un casque commémoratif. Les drapeaux présents sont ceux de Terre-Neuve et de la Colombie-Britannique, illustrant la devise « d'un océan à l'autre ».

Attendees gathered to photograph the procession at the beginning of the ceremony.

Police took their place to stop traffic for the opening procession.
