Canadian Firefighters Memorial, April 28, 2013

The day was very sunny and warm. I was too early to get good light on the statue's front. I'll have to show up later in the day next time. A stand with a CR code has been added to the site. I think it detracts from the aesthetics of the memorial. I was out photographing other memorials as well today and found these things tend to be common. If this fares like the others the base on this will get scuffed up.



















As of this writing April Hopkin is the only woman firefighter on the memorial wall. April Rose Hopkin served as a paid on call (volunteer) firefighter with the Goulais River Fire Department in North Ontario.  She died in the line of duty on October 20, 2002. She was 21 years old.

This stand with a CR code was added to the site since the last time I was out photographing it. In my opinion, it doesn't really fit in but I expect that I'll get used to it.

The CR code can be photographed with a smart phone and then used to access audio visual information about the site. So it is a good addition to the site.

I took this to get the garden detail just behind the wall.
