Canadian Firefighters Memorial, March 18, 2012

There still isn't much apparent change but there is one thing that has been done. One of the seat stones has had a brass arm rest attached to it, most likely as a test. These armrests will be evident when the memorial reaches completion. As arm rests go they're not all that good but their main function is to keep skate boarders from using the seats for skate board tricks. Similarly the hill that eventually becomes home to sugar maple trees and blueberry bushes had concrete structure in the original plans, similar to what is on the north slope. That structure was eliminated from the plan as it was feared skateboarders would use it. The site is to honour and thank Canada's firefighters and to remember Canada's fallen firefighters. It was not built to provide skate boarders with a skate board park.

The stone leaning on the pile of other stones has various elements on it that will be on the final memorial. That particular stone will not become part of the memorial.
