Canadian Firefighters Memorial, October 23, 2011

There are times when building something that a lot of work is done while little progress is evident. That happened at times with the building of the memorial. That in turn was reflected in the photographs taken. For this entry, you can see more facing material has been added to the wall. In another location on the site, stone has been notched and prepared for installation.

At the top left of this section of the wall there is a hole with wires coming out. A light fixture will go there. At the time this was taken I speculated that the dedication plaque would go into the rectangular depression. Instead a plaque with 'The Firefighters' Prayer in English and French went there.

Over time all of the insulation material went into the structure. I would have liked to have seen what kind of work was done inside it but I did not have access on the site. I think there was electrical and water work done in there. As well I think there was some structural construction done on the inside. Ultimately there are places in the structure for extending supports for an altar used in the ceremony. I cannot point that out until I get to photographs taken very much later than this.

You can see facing stones being set up for installation on the wall.

Traffic cones keep vehicles and equipment away from the wall.
